Can vantage display tag / category descriptions?

I tried adding some text to a category description expecting it to appear at the top of the archive page for that category but it doesn’t. There’s a note on the category page that says “The description is not prominent by default; however, some themes may show it”. I assume you’ve just chosen for Vantage not to use the text? Is there an easy way to enable this functionality?
