Blog Issues

By tmbrown1scu, 5 years ago. Last reply by Alex S, 5 years ago.

I am using the Mono theme. I am trying to set up my blog page (separate from home page) and am running into difficulties.

When I edit my blog page, I choose ‘Full Width’ Layout. However, whenever I ‘preview changes’, one of two things happens:

1) It doesn’t show the Full Width changes I made and continues to show the sidebar layout (along with ‘Page Title display’, which I have unchecked)

2) It redirects to my homepage, bypassing the blog page altogether. In the ‘Reading settings’, I have already set the posts page as my blog, so I don’t understand why this is happening.

Thank you for your help.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Tmbrown1scu,

Preface: Please note that the Mono Site Pack uses the SiteOrigin North as the theme. You can find its documentation by clicking here.

    1. Page Settings aren’t able to directly modify the blog page. You’ll need to adjust the Posts page template settings. Please navigate to WP AdminAppearanceCustomize, Page Template SettingsBlog Page and adjust the layout there.

    2. I’m not too sure why this is happening. Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Tmbrown1scu,

I’ve had a look at your website and the homepage looks to be correctly set the page you specified. Are you still having issues with your home page? If so, can you please elaborate further on the issue you’re facing?

The homepage is ok. It is the blog that I am having issues with.

It doesn't seem to be updating the changes that I make the to the Page
Settings. For example, I change the Page Layout so that there isn't a sidebar, but it doesn't show that. Also, when I click 'Preview Changes'
that page, which should show my blog, will oftentimes redirect to my homepage.

    Does that make sense?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Tmbrown1scu,

Ah. I’ve run a few tests and the Page Template settings work without issue.
Please navigate to WP AdminAppearanceCustomize, Page Template SettingsBlog Page and adjust the layout there.

that page, which should show my blog, will oftentimes redirect to my homepage.

I can’t seem to replicate this. Can you please elaborate on the exact steps/actions you take to replicate this? Sorry about this!

Ok, so when I navigate to the Blog Page Settings per your description above, it shows my home page (as if I were editing my home page, and not my blog). However, it does seem to be the case that when I make adjustments on this page it does change my blog page, but I have to navigate to it separately.

It is as if my home page and my blog page are somehow getting mixed up. For example, when I go directly to my blog page, at the top it says 'edit home page'. (And, it still is the case that sometimes when I click 'preview changes' on my blog edit page it loads my homepage – to see this yourself,
try clicking that button a few times, or try making minor changes – such as changing page layout – to the page and then clicking 'preview changes'.)

    Thanks for your help, Alex!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Tmbrown1scu,

Unfortunately, we’re currently unable to process attachments at this time. Can you please upload the images to a third party image hosting site (like Imgur or vgy.me) and provide me with links to the images? Sorry about this!

I wasn’t able to see what you’re describing so I really need to see the screenshots to see a better idea of what you’re seeing.

Please note that WordPress doesn’t allow you to directly edit Posts Page so any adjustments made to that page directly (such as adjusting the Page Settings box instead of the Page Template Settings) will not take effect.
