Black Studio TinyMCE with PageBuilder

By cal333, 9 years ago. Last reply by Magus, 9 years ago.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how to get Black Studio TinyMCE to work with PageBuilder. I’ve followed all the instructions on the BSTM support pages. de-activated/removed plugins, changed theme, etc… I can’t get it to work! When i am in the Visual Editor widget of PageBuilder i see a small icon, which refers to BSTM but even this doesn’t work. At the moment Black Studio TinyMCE seems to be pointless, I hate to say that because i am sure someone is putting a great deal of work in to this, so hopefully, it could be something simple, like ‘use firefox rather than chrome, or switch something ‘on’. Any thoughts.

One more thing i have noticed, hopefully this is nothing to do with the BSTM issue. I can be working in PageBuilder, adding widgets or text, whatever. Then I save/update, go to the live site to review changes. Nothing is there, all the content has been removed. I will then check back to the admin site, sure enough, everything that was supposed to be there is completely gone. I’m grateful to be able to go back to an earlier revision. Is this a common problem?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Cal333

Could you please tell us what hosting structure you are using. We have seen similar issues as you are having when the host uses HHVM as part of the package.

Also could you please tell us what versions of WordPress, Vantage and PageBuilder you are running.

    Thanks

Hi Magus, thanks for the response. I was running the latest versions of WordPress, Vantage and PageBuilder. That said, this morning there were some SiteOrigin updates waiting to be installed. After the installation Black Studio TinyMCE is now working, well it seems to be so far!. Hopefully it will continue.

So for now, problem is solved.

    Thanks
    Carl

OK, so my problem is not fully resolved.

After installing the updates from SiteOrigin plugins this morning, the toolbar for Black Studio TinyMCE returned, and appeared in the widget – Visual Editor. However, if i make changes nothing is saved.

I have tried deleting the original content and adding it again but this doesn’t work. So i am almost back to my original problem – not being able to add or format text content in my wordpress site.

Magus, regarding your question about hosting structure, could you be a bit more specific. My host support team are coming back with some vague answer. I mentioned HHVM to them and they responded they use WHM.

    Thanks
    Carl

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Carl

HHVM is a php technology addon developed by Facebook that significantly speeds up the serving of web pages. It uses a language called Hack to intercept php traffic and we have found that it also detrimentally impacts pagebuilder. We are working on updates which should fix the issue.

The issue you are experiencing has been reported by those using HHVM. As we don’t know if this is the cause in your case could you please check for any javascript errors when saving you pagebuilder created pages.

Hi Magus, thanks for the education. I must admit its all making my head spin.

though i may have found the answer to my head spinning, and also the PageBuilder/BS tinyMCE issue.

with the exception of PB/SiteOrigin & BSTM, I had all the plugins disabled. It still wouldn’t work. The BSTM toolbar would show, but the page edits wouldn’t save. So, this could actually be a simple solution. Based on the link you provided above and following the instructions i tried to see if there were any javascript errors. Sure enough, there was. and they all related to 1.gravatar. These all seemed to be referring to the gravatar for my wordpress login, located top-right. Ok, on looking at my profile i noticed an option to disable the Visual Editor. Which i did. Now things seem to work well.

BSTM seems to play nicely and PB is saving the changes/updates!

    Could it be that simple?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Carl

It certainly could be. The js errors should be nothing to worry about unless your gravatar icon is not displaying.

If you need any more help please feel free to open a new support thread.
