Backing up

By GTint, 9 years ago. Last reply by Andrew Misplon, 9 years ago.

Hi guys.
Total newbie to any type of website building with only 2 days experience but countless hours watching the YouTube vids before I took the plunge and I think I’m doing ok?

I have Vantage Premium.

Do you need to back up the site for any reason?
I have no idea how to do this if necessary?
Please simple terms like a child could understand. Lol

Cheers.
Mitch.

    Hi Mitch

    Thanks for your support.

It’s worth checking out what your hosting company offers. Many keep seven days worth of daily backups and can restore on request.

I haven’t fully checked out the difference between free and premium, but I know that UpDraftPlus works well with restoring Page Builder plugin content so it’s worth checking out:

Thanks Andrew for the quick response!

I’ve quickly checked out that plug in.
I guess I’ll install it if you think it’s a good thing and try work out how to use it.

Probably a silly question but what actually happens?
Can the site just vanish one day all of a sudden?
Can it be the host companies fault or something like that?
How often do you need to back it up?
I’ve just started building it and it might take me a while.
    Please excuse my simpleness.
    Cheers.

    Hi, I Work Here

There are many issues that might require you to restore from a backup point. Definitely not common but nice to be prepared. Plugins like the one will have an automated way of backing up. Once you’ve gone through the setup you can leave it to do its thing. Backup intervals depend on how big your site is and how often content changes. Once a day at 2am is pretty standard.
