I’ve always been in favour of being able to annotate the widgets and rows displayed by Page Builder on admin screens – partly because not all widgets show a small excerpt from their content, but now, having worked with twin rows (one for smartphones and one for tablet/desktop) we need some way of distinguishing them.
Hi George,
I’ve marked this thread as a feature request. We often look through these threads to get ideas for what to add in our future updates. Hopefully, we’ll be able to add this in a future update.
This is something we’re strongly considering implementing but for obvious reasons I cannot say for certain if it will be implemented.
Sorry, Alex, thought I’d marked that as a FR – thanks for replying. I know this must be a major decision because there are so many possibles ways to handle the feature. I thought that the wonderful Live Editor would resolve this, but working with the regular PB editor is still very handy, and Live Editor doesn’t help situations like alternative rows – clients get confused about which one they’re editing :-)
Hi George,
Oh? Could you provide more information about what was confusing to clients? Any client (ie. feedback from less technical people) feedback would be much appreciated.
Clients were editing the row that only displays on desktop when they should have been editing the row that displays on mobile. They never look at the Attributes box and they forget to look at my instructions in the Peters Post Notes box over on the side. I think being able to put a note right on the row/widget is my only hope of helping them keep things straight :-)
Hi George,
That’s actually a really good use case – thanks for that.
Is there anything else I can help you with today?
No, that’s great, Alex, thanks!
Just discovered that a number of the widgets in the Widgets for SiteOrigin by wpinked contain an Admin Label field, which is displayed on the widget in the back end for quick identification of the content.
