After update 4.9 images do not show in media library

By lhm, 6 years ago. Last reply by lhm, 6 years ago.

Hey,

after the update 4.9 new files do not show up in the media library. I checked
– file authorization: 640 (also tried 644, 750, 755 –> negative)
– folder authorization: 750 (also tried 755 –> negative)
– uploaded the media files with filezilla via FTP –> negative
– switched off every plugin (individually and all together) –> negative
– php version: 7-70STABLE-STANDARD

I don’t know what else to do/check. Any suggestions? Help really appreciated!!!

Regards,
Ben

    Hi Ben,

To clarify, what language is your website set to (you can find this information by navigating to WP AdminSettingsGeneral)? I ask as there is a WordPress issue with certain languages that can cause this issue.

    Hi Alex,

the website language was set to German. I tried English US, UK, Australia, and Spanish with no positive results. Is there another explanation for this problem?

    Hi Lhm,

To clarify, have you updated to WordPress 4.9.1 yet? That’ll completely rule out the above issue (there was an issue with German (Formal) which I suspect you may have been using).

If the issue persists after updating WordPress, I would run a quick plugin conflict.

Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

    Hi Alex,
    Thanks for the quick answer.

Yes, I had updated to the latest WP version. I cleared the caches: No success. The deactivation and activation of the non-SiteOrigin plugins didn’t have any positive results. Changing the themes had also no positve effect.

But I checked the data attributes of each image in Filezilla (AGAIN!) and found a solution: When I change the data attributes to 600 everything works smoothly. Just strange.
