Try the Post Loop widget and enter an argument like:
p=1
into the Additional field at the bottom of the widget settings. Where 1 is the ID of the post you’d like to insert. You can get the post ID by editing the post in WordPress and checking for the ID number in the url.
That helped because I am now just looking at post loop, but I really wanted to filter a number of posts by category, latest or featured.
Any help would be appreciated.

In the Post Loop query builder you’ll find a Taxonomies field, you can start searching for the name of the category you want to use there.
