Add Image above Blog Page

Greetings. I’d simply like to add an image above my blog loop on my blog’s main page. When I try and edit the main blog page with page builder there is no effect. The page still just lists the blog loop:

I did create another page and insert a pagebuilder blog loop widget, and an image above that. However I cant figure out how to get the blog loop to display the date, categories, and have the formating look correct.

Can I use custom CSS and just add an image above the main BLOG page?

Is there a way to make the blog loop widget display like the main blog loop template?
