Lost all changes (history cache limitation?)

I am modifying the dowloaded Mono site.. After about 1.5 hours of editing I Suddenly lost all the changes – formatting as well as content (ex: text modified within the headline or editor widget).. This is the second time this has happened.. Even the history cache is empty so there is no way to restore…
