Theme’s template file is missing custom fields

I’m getting this notice in the WordPress backend when I go to a page to edit the page: “Your theme’s template file for displaying Page items is missing custom fields.” I’m not sure what these means or how to go about fixing it. And I’m not sure what problems it is causing – except that…
