Video is there but no visual

Disclosure: I’m a beginner to blogging and stumbling my way through this stuff. I used the SO video widget to add a short 7 second video of mine (not youtube or vimeo) to a post and on my desktop it shows a gray rectangle where the video should be but no image. The play button…
