WP admin page goes blank after Portal theme is installed

How can I resize these areas in the Portal theme?
I want to resize the page (white area) and black footer area directly below it, but I can't seem to figure out how to do so (even after using firebug) Here's how it currently looks: http://i58.tinypic.com/6s8j0p.png
Show post descriptions using Masonry widget
Concerning the Masonry widget, is there anyway to show the post description underneath the image, i.e. pinterest?Otherwise, I am really enjoying the theme.
Reduce spacing between main navigation links on mobile
I use the Portal theme and I want to reduce the spaces in between links in the main navigation menu when viewing on a mobile device. Where and what should I be looking at in the css. Thanks!
