Tried writing a thread on WordPress’s support forum but I am having a lot of trouble with that. If it’s not completely out of the support feild here I would like to know what route I should take as far as free plugins, to prepare my site for some very high traffic? because I plan on implementing some major promoting & I would just like to be prepared. (I have at least started with wp super cache.) Thanks.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Sam

WP Super Cache is a great place to start. Better WP Security or WordFence is also worth a look for security. For comment form spam, if you have those open, you can use Akismet. If you have signups running then use WangGuard to try vet those.

It depends on how much traffic you’re driving. If it’s a huge amount you’ll need to keep an eye on your site and ensure your hosting resources are enough.
