Vantage Pro Version vs Polylang

By BAZZ, 9 years ago. Last reply by Magus, 9 years ago.

Hi, SiteOrigin Team!

How to translate the Site Information Text in footer. I use Polylang plugin to translate all pages, menus and text areas, but unfortunately I don’t know how to translate this text area.

I need that in German Site Information Text will show German version with German links, but in English version i need that Site Information Text will show English version with English links.

Thanks

    Hi BAZZ

Translations of the footer widgets should be available through the strings translation page of the Polylang plugin.

If you do not see them there then set the language options for the existing widgets to English only and underneath each one add a new one for German only.

There may be some spacing issues after but we can fix that with some custom CSS once the new widgets are in place.

    Hi, Magus!

No, no, no…… this is not a footer widget, this is “Site Information Text” from Appearance->Theme Settings->General.

In Polylang plugin I don’t have THIS element string translation.

All others footer widgets I have translate without the problems. I don’t know how to translate ONLY this element.

    Hi BAZZ

Apologies for my mistake, confusion with an earlier thread.

Unfortunately there is no way to target this specifically with CSS or polylang.

The only workable solution would be to remove the Site Info area and rebuild your footer into two layout builders, one for each language. In the layout builder have 2 rows, the first with 4 columns for your footer widgets in it’s language and in the second row have a single visual editor with your site-info.

With these set like this it should display correctly for each language. it’s a bit of work but I have tested every other possible solution.

Sorry I cannot be of more help

    Hi, Magus!

I think that this solution, which You mean, is very good for me.

So, what I have to do to get 2 rows in footer zone.

    Hi BAZZ
Yes. When you add a layout builder widget to the footer you can select the language you want it displayed in, exactly the same as your existing widgets you will need two of them.
If in each of these you have two rows, one with 4 columns ( one for each of your existing footer widgets, which will have to be recreated I am afraid), and one for the site information, which you can enter into a visual editor widget.
    Hope this helps
