I have a site going live immanently. I’ve used pagebuilder plugin and the Estate theme (premium). There are a few things I’d like to do which aren’t options in the Theme so require some code changes to the template files which I’d rather not do because of theme updates losing customisation.
Most of the site is built and I fear that switching to a child theme at this stage might mean a lot of rebuilding and remapping of theme settings and other things. Re assigning a menu and a few check box options will be fine. I have a copy of the custom CSS I’ve done – will this need to be added back in – or added to child style.css? If I’ve used widgets in page builder pages will these need to be reset? How much does page builder work alongside the theme and will my pages suddenly just change when move over?
Does anyone know how much I will need to redo if I change over now? Will it affect the pagebuilder pages at all? Is there a way to test this somehow.
Thanks
Hi Simon
Most of your questions have been answered over on your other thread – https://siteorigin.com/thread/urgent-adding-a-breadcrumb-and-child-theme-to-estate-theme-with-page-builder/
But to answer your Custom CSS question. We added custom CSS as a shortcut to building an entire child theme. If you’re building a child theme anyway, then you might as well copy all that custom CSS into your own child theme.
