Trying To Use Custom CSS With Vantage

I am using the Vantage theme, and until tonight it had been the free version. I purchased the premium because Siteorigin Custom CSS wouldn’t work with the free version of Vantage. Well, surprise, surprise, it barely, and I mean last leg, dying breath, where’s my walker works with Vantage after the purchase. I, as a noob with a capital NOOB, expected a bit more ease of use, less need to code, hell, no need to code. It barely changes a thing in Vantage without coding, and I was expecting highlight and modify abilities. Odd, your video made it seem like I would just click the element and modify it in the left screen. As it is, barely anything can be changed at all, which makes the addon fairly useless unless you code. And if you code, you can use any number of CSS addons. I feel…..mislead. Also, who makes a Theme where one cannot alter the header freely?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Aaron

Sorry to hear about your experience. I think you’ve run into a few mis-understandings, let me try clear those up for you.

SiteOrigin CSS is a standalone plugin. It should work with any theme and does work with Vantage Free. If it wasn’t working it was most likely due to a conflict with another plugin. This is something we can assist in troubleshooting.

Vantage Premium adds a menu item at Appearance called Custom CSS. This was previously a bonus for upgrading. Since we’ve now released this a stand alone plugin anyone can enjoy using Custom CSS.

Vantage Premium unlocks several settings at Appearance > Theme Settings like the retina logo and most importantly the mobile menu, the footer credit link is also removed.

Arguably, the most useful aspect of Vantage Premium is at Appearance > Customize > Theme Design. There, you can customise all of your site’s colors and fonts with ease. No coding is required.

Hopefully that clears everything up :)

The WordPress custom header feature is an option, themes can choose whether to use it or not. Vantage doesn’t use this feature. However, you can add several widgets to the header from Appearance > Widgets. You can add your logo via Appearance > Theme Settings > Logo and you can add a header background image from Appearance > Customize > Theme Design > Page.

Hope that helps with your header setup.
