Theme Best Practices

By ceah, 9 years ago. Last reply by Greg Priday, 9 years ago.

Hi,

I use the StudioPress Genesis theme and best practice involves using a child theme for customization. Best practice for the Auotmattic Underscores theme involves not making a child theme, and using a new copy of Underscores for each site.

Can you tell me what best practices are for your Vantage theme. I downloaded this theme and the child yesterday and am eager to jump in and learn.

Also where are the premium themes on your site and what is the difference between Vantage free and premium?

Thank you

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Ceah

The same best practice of child themes with Genesis also apply to Vantage. You’re always best off using a child theme. This way updates don’t break any changes. If you’re just looking to make some small changes to your design, then using SiteOrigin CSS.

    Page: SiteOrigin CSS Editor

If you install Vantage, then navigate to Appearance > Premium Upgrade, you’ll see a list of all the features that Vantage Premium offers. Hope that’s what you’re looking for :)
