Social Media Icons Do Not Appear When Using Vantage Social Media Widget

11 years ago · Last reply by Andrew Misplon 11 years ago

I’m attempting to use the Vantage Social Media widget on a WP site using the Vantage theme, and no icons appear no matter where and how the widget is used. On the public URL provided, I’ve even titled the widget (currently sitting in the footer) “Social Media” to denote where it should be.

    Hi ChampionHyena

I see your Facebook Icon there. If you don’t see that please check your plugin and or hosting setup, I believe we’ve seen issues with FontAwesome icons (bundled with the theme) if the site is being run through a CDN. Could that be the case here.

The site is hosted by GoDaddy, which has its own branded CDN (“Website Accelerator”).

Whether the icons appear or not seems to vary from browser to browser and machine to machine (typical cache/cookies clearing does nothing).

Is there any sort of workaround I should be doing to make their appearance a little more predictable?

This issue has presented a few times, I just can’t remember exactly what the resolution process has been in the past.

If there is a way to stop your traffic being run through the CDN that might be a place to start testing.
Are you running a caching plugin? Try clearing your cache and then de-activating the plugin then re-test.

I don’t know that there’s a way to disable Website Accelerator; I’m under the impression that it may just be enabled for any hosted sites. Moreover, I’m not the account owner and would probably be a little reticent to disable that even if it is possible.

The only plugins I have enabled (at least on the WP side) are Page Builder, Meta Slider, and the Black Studio TinyMCE Widget.

I’m looking at using Vantage for my so I cruisin some the sites I’m seeing in the forum. I went to the url you have listed and I see Facebook and Twitter icons at the bottom of the page using Firefox and Chrome.

    Hi ChampionHyena

Plugin conflict tests are a temporary measure. Just turn everything off, test the problem again and then re-activate one by one while watching the error to see if anything changes.

Please can you confirm the browser and operating system you’re checking the icons on. Right now I can see Twitter and Facebook.

    Thanks for checking headofrock.
