Slider issue and logo

By Aaron, 10 years ago. Last reply by Andrew Misplon, 10 years ago.

MetaSlider works great and I think I’ll be able to do some wicked things with it. Integration with Vantage is awesome except for one thing, by default, the slider is stretched when full layout or something is selected, now on the preview slider built into Vantage, the image is nicely stretched and crisp. However, when I set up my own slider, and have it stretched, it distorts and kinda don’t fit the screen nicely. I’ve tried using different resolutions, and even changing the resolutions on MetaSlider itself, but to no avail.

I don’t think it’s MetaSlider though that’s the issue. To kinda explain what I mean, below are two links to give you a picture of the issue.

Stretched: http://premiburu.com/?p=68
Not streched: http://premiburu.com/?p=67

See how the stretched one is distorted and even got cropped? The image matched the 1080×420 resolution on the setting and recommendation.

I will need to reactivate Maintenance mode so a prompt response would be much appreciated.

And also, the logo resolution. I cannot for the life of me find the ideal logo resolution for this theme. Could someone maybe provide the logo resolution for the standard theme and the hi-res resolution for the premium theme? Please with a cherry on top?

Thanks in advance, Cheers!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Aaron.

Thanks for running Vantage. You can try setting up a wider slider, perhaps 1920, uploading a 1920 wide image and having that stretch. However the best method in this case will be to separate your background image and text layer, that’s what we’ve done in our demo slider. You can read up on doing this here: https://siteorigin.com/vantage-documentation/getting-started/slider/.

The header can handle most reasonable size logos. Your Retina logo which will be displayed on Retina displays should be double the size of your regular logo. The logo in our demo is 181 x 40px if you’re interested. But you can definitely have a bigger logo.

Hey Andrew! Awesome fast support! I got the text layer thing going nicely and it sort of works now. Just that the slider image a bit low res, is there something I’m missing? I kept resolutions at 1080×420.

And thanks on the logo info! :)

    Hi, I Work Here

When you screen is at 1080px your images should render exactly as uploaded however as your slider stretches the image quality will reduce. What you can do is increase the width of your slider and upload a wider image.

I think I’m doing something wrong here Andrew. i kept the original 1080 background with text overlay, and it’s blurry. So I added the source image with is 3141×1335 and it’s also low res. Last I have set up a 1920 wider shot of the source with 1920 text overlay. And it kinda crops it too and shows up blurred and zoomed in.

This all happens when I have it stretched. If I don’t and it has padding on the sides, the images are nice and crisp. Any ideas why this is happening? I don’t really like the empty spaces on the sides…worst case scenario, I would have to live with it…but if avoidable, would be nice. Any more tips or tricks up your sleeves?

    Hi, I Work Here

Try installing this and push quality up to 100%:

Ok…don’t know what else to do. I have it set to 1080×420 on MetaSlider, stretched, with WP resized image quality up to 100%

    Result, http://www.premiburu.com/
    still blurry.

Any more ideas? If not I guess I’ll have to live with the empty sides haha.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Have you tried a 1920 x 420 or 1920 x 440 slider and image?

Yep, I’ve played with just about everything I could think of. 1920 image with 1920 setting, 1920 image with 1080 setting, vice versa. Everything :(

    Hi, I Work Here

Sorry, I’m not sure what to else to suggest besides a fixed width slider.
