SiteBuilder Edit widget word wrapping

For some reason, most of the text that I’ve entered into SiteBuilder Edit widgets is being presented as one long, run-on paragraph.

No matter what value I use for Automatically add paragraphs.
No matter how many line breaks I make, in the visual editor or in the text editor
No matter now many or
tags I add to try and manage paragraph breaks.

Why? What am I doing wrong?
