I’m using the grid blog layout in unwind on our website https://ifkgoteborgorientering.se (sorry, only in Swedish). I like the layout it gives us but I want to get the excerpt also to use the row breaks in the text and not just displaying one flowing set of words and sentences. Hope you understand what I mean by that. Can this be fixed?
As an example, right now in my blog layout I have a post that in the post itself says:
Inför stundande VM-tester erbjuder vi en samling med fokus på den terräng som väntar där. Vi bor på Stenbekk som vi brukar. Anmälan som kommentar nedan eller direkt till Fredrik L senast lördag 22/6. Program finner du i bifogat dokument.
But inte blog grid layout it says
Inför stundande VM-tester erbjuder vi en samling med fokus på den terräng som väntar där. Vi bor på Stenbekk som vi brukar. Anmälan som kommentar nedan eller direkt till Fredrik L senast lördag 22/6. Program finner du i bifogat dokument….
Thanks
Stefan
Hi Stefan
Thanks for posting. Paragraphs are automatically removed by the excerpt function we’re using, it’s a core WP function. You could perhaps try a plugin like this one
https://wordpress.org/plugins/advanced-excerpt/
See the last setting, Strip Tags.
Thanks Aaron,
I see, I’m still a bit of a newbie so I don not always understand what is WordPress native and what is the theme causing different things.
That plugin seems like exactly what I need. I tried it, downloaded and tested but it made the resources usage on my server go through the roof. Managed to delete the plug in via FTP and a second attempt did the same thing. I’ll contact the plug in authors and see if they know what could be wrong.

No worries at all. I had to look up whether the core WordPress excerpt function we’re using removes paragraph tags.
There are several other plugins on the WordPress.org plugin directory that deal with excerpts. Unfortunately, I can’t find one at the moment that deals with the tags we are discussing (paragraphs).
Let us know how it goes with your support enquiry with Advanced Excerpt.
