Reinstall comment counter

Hi there!
I began building my blog a few months ago. Back then, I didn’t want comments, so I erased something and got rid of it. But I didn’t take note of the change I made. Now that I want the comment counter back I don’t know how. I can’t reinstall the theme, having made several changes to have everything in French.
What do you suggest? (I am French so pls be patient)
