Hi

I’ve encountered a problem whilst trying to move my WordPress site from a /wp subfolder to the root.
First of all I backed up my site.

Then, in Settings-General I changed the two urls to my website url. However, I did not save these changes…

I then logged onto my asmallorange cPanel. In File Manager I moved the WordPress files to public_html/ directory.

When I then went to my website (www.rossgardens.co.uk) my homepage is visible but when I try to click menu tab to go to another page I get the following message:
Index of /wp
Parent Directory

When I click on Parent Diredtory it takes me back to my website Homepage.

When I tried to save the url changes I made earlier in my WP dashboard which was still open, I got the following message:
Not Found
The requested URL /wp/wp-admin/themes.php was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I now can’t seem to access my dashboard… So I can’t post my Premium Order Number below.

Advice much appreciated.
Cheers
Ross

    Hi again
I’ve had to change permalinks to get the correct urls showing.
However, I don’t seem to be able to change the urls of a couple of pages:
    http://rossgardens.co.uk/philosophy-2/ and http://rossgardens.co.uk/contact-2/
I’d like to remove the -2 at the end of both of these urls. The page names and titles seem to be correct so any advice how to remove the -2 at the end would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Ross

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Rossgardens

That’s odd. Editing your page title should change the url.

Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look? You can create the account with the following email address:

    [email protected]

Just navigate to Users > Add New in your WordPress admin. Enter siteorigin for the username and [email protected] for the email address. Make sure you’ve selected Administrator for the role and enabled the “Send Password” field so we receive the details.

Once we’re finished taking a look, you can delete this account. We’ll let you know when to do that.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Cheers

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Rossgardens

I went through your pages and noticed that you had the pages in the trash that had similar names. I deleted them from the trash and renamed the slug name of the pages in question via quick edit option.

Now they can be accessed via http://rossgardens.co.uk/philosophy/ and http://rossgardens.co.uk/contact/

    Please delete the account now.

    Cheers

Ah, I wondered if there might have been pages with those names hiding somewhere.
Many thanks for your help Addo.
