The post loop plugin was working fine, then all of the sudden, it directs you to a page showing this “That page can’t be found.” Clicking any link doesn’t link to a post. I have tried using it on my other sites, and have started a new test site and it does not work. Here is my clients link, http://loddymicucci.com I am using Vantage Premium, I have cleared my cache several times, turned plugins off and re-activated them. Can’t get it to function normal again. All of the posts are still available. Clicking on the about page shows the recent post drop down in the sidebar, selecting a month directs you to a page with that months post viewable. The post loop was working fine within the last 48 hours.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Patrick
Hi Patrick
I believe you may be looking at an infection here. Whenever I check one of your title link destinations it always leads to the same URL.
Inline links which appear correct redirect to that same URL. Please try downloading this plugin, registering it (free) and running a scan on your wp-content directory.

You said you had tried disabling plugins. Was this one at a time or all together? If the above comes back clean and you disabled the plugins one at a time please try disabling all non SiteOrigin plugins and checking again. If the issue is cleared then please try enabling them again one at a time until the issue re-occurs. This will help us to narrow down the cause.
Let us know how you get on.

Hi Patrick
I have never personally used WP Fence so I cannot comment on it. I have however use the plugin I linked after my site was infected with a redirect js script which it successfully found and cleaned on the first pass. It wouldn’t hurt to disable WP fence temporarily and run a scan using the suggested plugin. At least it would rule out one possibility.
If you have FTP access it might also be worth checking the contents of your .htaccess file as this is the most common destination for this kind of attack.

Hi Patrick
Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look? You can create the account with the following email address:
[email protected]
Just navigate to Users > Add New in your WordPress admin. Enter siteorigin for the username and [email protected] for the email address. Make sure you’ve selected Administrator for the role and enabled the “Send Password” field so we receive the details.
Once we’re finished taking a look, you can delete this account. We’ll let you know when to do that.
Thanks

Hi Patrick
I well be more than happy to help. It was 3.30am here when we started and I am still awake. I only popped into the forum because I couldn’t sleep myself, going to try for a couple of hours now. Post in here when you are ready to proceed

Hi Patrick
Please create an admin account as using the details listed in my earlier post. Once the details come through I’ll jump in and have a look.
Thanks

Hi Patrick
That will not be a problem. I’ll wait for your login details on the client’s site first. Hopefully this is just a surface level infection. If not we can talk about possible resolutions.

Hi Patrick
The problem was with your permalink settings. I have set them to the default setting so the site should now load properly.
It was set so that all links would go to
If you want to use a custom path you must include the %post-name% variable at the end so the permalink should read
If this isn’t done then WordPress cannot find your posts and you get the 404 error.
That should be the same on your design site as well.
Let us know of this does fix that one

Hi Patrick
You are welcome. It is ok to now remove the admin account.
Should I now mark this as resolved?
