Page broken, restore revision don’t fix it

By Manni79, 9 years ago. Last reply by Manni79, 9 years ago.

Hello,

I posted already in WP-Forums. But now I found your own Support-forum and I think it is better placed here. I hope so. ;-)

we designed a big page with PageBuilder and all worked fine till now. Last time I made a small text change in live editor and saved it. After that, the page showed only a completely empty web page. When I tried to open the page in”edit” mode, the complete browser page is empty. When I browse to the page in normal “view”-mode, it is also a completly empty page.

When I deactivate PageBuilder I can open the page content again correctly, but then I have only the text which was inserted in the PageBuilder-elemenzs. When I active page builder again, the Page is broken again. :-(

I tried to deactivate PageBuilder and then go in “edit”-mode and to restore a earlier revision, the revision before my last text change. I can set the revision back correctly, so my last text change is gone. But even then, when I activate pageBuilder again, then the page gets broken again. And clicking the page again only shows a completely empty page.

Any Idea how I can fix that? I can restore a earlier Revision for the text. Any possibility to restore a revsion from the PageBuilder-State? I think here is something broken in the last save of the pagebuilder-part-save of the page. Something wrongly saved in the part of saved PageBuilder-Informations. So any possibility to set the complete page back to a working revision for text and also for PageBuilder?

Our Problem is, that it was a really big page with many work in details in it. So I hope someone can help.

Thanks a lot and best regards!
Manni

We have also some technical skills. If you can give us some tips, in which database table we should look and if we will find there some data with timestamps to set some PageBuilder settings back before our last save for this page, perhaps could be enough to help us. At the moment we have no idea how to fix the page. :-(

    Thanks a lot!

    Hello again,

we had a look again, but found no solution. So I think we have to create all again because there is no “pagebuilder last revision” or “pagebuilder rollback to last save”, right?

    Thanks a lot

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Manni

Very sorry to hear about this. I’m not sure what could have happened to your content. We have a few checks in place to try ensure that content is never lost, so I’m not sure what happened here.

Page Builder does store its data in the WordPress revisions, so if you roll back to an older revision of the page, your Page Builder content should be restored too. Can you check if this works?

    Hi Greg,

thanks for your reply. As i tried to explain, the Content in default text-form is not missing, we can still see it when we switch PageBuilder off. Problem is, page get’s every time broken again when we switch PageBuilder on again.

    You Wrote:

That is really interesting. Because as i tried to explain, I did already exactly that. I disabled PageBuilder to be able to get into “edit page” of the broken content. Then I was able to open the page again. Then I restored a older page version, which was working already fine. But also when I restore this older working revision, the page get’s broken again, when I switch PageBuilder on again.
Perhaps any other idea about that? Sure that all PageBilder related data is also saved in the wordpress revision? What happens when, as I did, restore a page-builder page, when page builder is disabled? Because I have to disable pagebuilder to get to the “restore revision”-function.

I somewhere an error log where I can take a look for error messages?

Now I tried it again and disabled PageBuilder and go into “edit page” and restore an older page revision. Then I activated PageBuilder again, but again page gets broken with activated PageBuilder and only shows a completely empty page.

    Hi, I Work Here

Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for me? I’ll log in and take a look at what’s going on. Just send the details to [email protected]

    Hi, I Work Here

Aaah, OK. I’m following what’s happening now. Do you know if you have access to an error log? This white screen is more than likely being caused by a fatal error. You should be able to ask your hosts for information on how you access the error logs.

Hi Greg, you should have 2 Emails. One with Account data from WordPress. And one email from me with links and little explanation.

    Thanks a lot

I don’t see any logs on the FTP Server. I have a access log, but it is not displaying some errors. Also in Webhost Webinterface I see no “error log”. :-( Any other chance?

    Hi, I Work Here

You should be able to contact your web hosts directly to ask them for access to your PHP error logs.

Something else you can try, is to disable all plugins besides Page Builder, and see if that fixes the page. If this fixes things, renable your plugins one by one to diagnose which plugin is causing Page Builder to trigger a fatal error.

I try to get a look in these logs. And I try with plugin changes.

Hi Greg, as addition to last informations per Email:
The Problems we had with a crashed tables is fixed. After fixing database table problems and switching plugins off and on, all works fine again. No broken page anymore.
I am not sure what was the real reason for the problem, but all works fine now. A very small explanation where PageBuilder Information are stored (table / column) still would be nice, perhaps for a problem in the future it is good to know.

Thanks a lot and best regdards
    Mani
