Multiple result pages from Search widget

Search results extending over multiple pages do not perform consistently.
When I use the Search in the menu bar, multiple page result list works okay.
When I use the Search widget (searchform.php) , the ‘Previous’ …. ‘Next’ buttons do not function.

I modified my installation (free Vantage) by removing the “submit” code from the form definition.

The search function now work consistently from the menu bar and the widget.
