Is it possible to remove a foreground image from the slider widget?

Judging from the options in the widget interface and the documentation page, the only way to remove a foreground image from a slider panel is to remove the frame altogether and then just recreate the frame without the foreground image.

Is that correct?

Also, what do “navigation style” and “navigation size” refer to? Just the menu icon size and shape?
