Images Of Site Origin Hero Not Responsive

Open 8 replies general

Hi,
I am using the theme ZERIFE PRO which is responsive. I use on nearly all pages the SiteOrigin Hero widget. But the big images are not responsive, only the text which follows the image. On the image is no text! What can I do?

If I have to change something in the css, pls tell me exactly where to change something as I am a designer, no programmers…

Thanks so much. Ka

    Hi KaKno

Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on? If you need to keep this URL private from other users, just select “Private Reply” on the bottom right of the comment box.

    Hi Ka

    Apologies for the delay.

I looked into the matter with our Widgets Bundle developer. At this stage there isn’t anything we can add to the functionality of the Hero widget to change the behaviour you’re seeing now. The background size being used is “cover”. The Zerif version on your home page works much better because the photo has subject matter across the image. The problem is a lot more noticeable in the SO Hero widget because those images don’t have subject matter across the image.

If we did change the Hero widget to use background-size: 100% it would mean the height of the image would shrink as the screen size did. This would mean that the content would need to adjust and introduces a series of additional complications.

For comparison sake. Try the home page Zerif image in the Hero widget. It should become apparent what I’m discussing.

Sorry I don’t have better news.

Hi :) I’ve removed your URL from the public post on this thread.

The Hero widget is not responsive the same way that say Meta Slider plugin is responsive. The height remains the same, the text adjusts and the background image uses cover. You can read up on what cover does here:

    http://www.w3schools.com/cssref/css3_pr_background-size.asp

    Cover
Scale the background image to be as large as possible so that the background area is completely covered by the background image. Some parts of the background image may not be in view within the background positioning area.

At the moment we don’t plan on changing this method but will certainly consider your feedback.

Our Hero widget is responsive in the same way the Zerif hero is. You’re using different images which is why they appear to function differently.

I, unfortunately, don’t have a solution given the Hero widget and what you’d like to achieve. You’d need to consider using another widget. You’re using Zerif Pro so this is something you could reach out to theme support about.

    Hi support team.
As many messages in this thread have been cancelled, I cannot really understand if it was solved.
I have the same issue: both SiteOrigin Hero images and SiteOrigin Images widgets are not responsive.
This is a big issue for me.

I am working locally so I cannot provide you the link of the website, but I am a Teamviewer user if needed.

    Thank you

    Francesca
