I have installed Pitch this morning and am liking it enough to leave in place at the moment. In fact I am considering upgrading. Before I part with my hard-earned I would like to know if there is a way to stop Pitch from over-riding my Gallery settings. I wish to pick and choose when I show a Slideshow or a Gallery. As this is one of the major strengths of WordPress it seems barking mad for a theme to remove that functionality.
Also, I have an issue with the Project page layout which is currently reproducing (an unwanted) slideshow – once at the top of the page, where I would expect to see the Featured Image not a slideshow, and again underneath the content at the side. I do not like the way that the content is pushed to the side and would prefer it below the large image ( – is this an effect of my using the tabbed layout? I shall explore this)
OK. I have sussed out the double gallery thing – I see now that the gallery is automatically generated and does not need me to add (another) one.
I still cannot fathom how to get the grid layout that I desire nor how to get text content to appear beneath the photos
Hi Beth
Thanks for reaching out.
It’s possible to disable the auto Pitch gallery using the following setting: Appearance > Theme Settings > General: Use Pitch Gallery. Un-checking that setting will stop Pitch from taking over galleries.
Sounds like the best solution would be turn Pitch galleries OFF. That would free you up to add regular galleries in which image captions appear below each thumb. I like adding the following two Jetpack modules to help galleries along:

http://jetpack.me/support/carousel/
Let us know how it goes.
Thank you, Andrew. That sounds like an obvious and sensible solution but I do not have that option available to me. My General options appear as follows:
Demo Mode Enabled
Search Input Enabled
Menu Extras Enabled
Display Top Bar Menu Enabled
Scale Main Menu Enabled
Attribution Link This setting is available in Pitch Premium – Upgrade Now Hide or display the attribution link in the footer.
I am receiving complaints from users unable to leave comments on images because the slide show cannot be paused and this causes the Comments box to leap about. The slideshow also does not show Captions that have been laboriously entered and it isn’t clickable to allow full-size image view. Overall, it’s pretty unpleasant.
I am uninstalling Pitch, which is a pity because I like its other features and the overall clean appearance and would have been happy to pay for those but this controlling approach is not acceptable. My site, my space, my choice.
Hi Beth
Thanks for your feedback. Quite right, the setting I’m referring to was introduced in a later version not available on the WordPress.org directory. Apologies for the hassle.
