Footer Content Alignment

Dear Andrew,

Please can you tell me how I can better control the alignment of the widgets in the footer area? Namely, I’m seeking to centre the ticker in the middle, then would like to center the eco-friendly logo within its portion. And maybe pull the social network buttons slightly to the left etc

I’m not very CSS literate etc. i.e am unsure what goes in widget class and css styles fields when seeking to align footer content?

Your feedback is much appreciated – Thanks a lot for all your support etc

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Darren

    Thanks for the wait.

    The Layout Builder widget used in a regular widget area, like you have it setup now, can be problematic. The changes required from here are theme level CSS changes. We don’t really have a support offering at the moment to deal with those. Ideally that help should come from the theme authors side of things.

    I’d probably start with something like the following:

    div.footer-widget-area {
        max-width: none;
    }

    .site-footer p {
        text-align: center;
    }

    Further help would need to come from the them author or perhaps developer on your side.

    Hope you’re able to get the result you’re looking for :)

    (CSS would need to be placed in a Custom CSS plugin :) )

    Thanks for you reply Andrew. I’ll give it a go in due course, am sure we’ll work it out one way or another, will let you know how it goes. Many thanks.

    Hi, I Work Here

    For sure. Just the two rules above should get the footer looking like I’d expect to. Be sure to paste them into a Custom CSS plugin of your choosing to keep the update safe. Here is ours if you’re keen:

    Hey Andy, I managed to get footer about right in the end without recourse to any CSS changes. But recently I’ve been using your CSS editor to make changes to the sidebar. Its pretty cool but can be hard to pinpoint particular elements. Anyway a couple of issues I’ve had is when adding some bottom padding to some sidebar widget/s (to space them out from each other) I later noticed that the footer had items shifted, in particular, the cookie clarity logo was out of place, as if there had been a size reduction to the footer and hence reordering/sizing/shaping its content. I’ll try and work out which widget or element it was that caused the change.

    Anyway, more urgently, when I add some side padding to the sidebar, again in order to create some space between the content and left, I noticed that the google translate dropdown box had iced up, no response, no function, although it will work momentarily while the page loads. I noticed when I remove the padding there is not issue. Does this sound familiar? How can I achieve the spacing without loosing accessibility of the dropdown box? Note, when I try to add a margin instead of padding the sidebar content seems to go off the radar all together, at least in the viewing pane.

    Sorry for the essay, happy new year by the way. Cheers
