Editing Widget with Popup

I am using the Resurrect theme by Church Themes http://churchthemes.com/themes/resurrect/ and they include a widget to make a highlight. When editing this widget you choose an image with a light-box image chooser.

The problem: When I use this widget with SiteOrigin Page Builder within a page and edit the details for the widget I get a similar light-box to edit the widget and herein is the issue because now I cannot open another light-box on top of the already open edit widget light-box to choose my image. I am sure there are probably other widgets that can not be used for this similar reason because they require a light-box to choose settings. Is there any way to get around this?
