CSS Custome code gone

Hi,

For some odd reason all my edited css code that was added in the css style-sheet is gone…leaving my website back to square one in terms of how i wanted it.

What happend?, Can it happen again in the future?, How can i prevent it?

    Hello Jocelyn, I don’t work here but I had an inquiry similar sometime back. Did you alter the current CSS Stylesheet – or did you put items in Custom CSS area?

    If you add the items in the pre-existing CSS Stylesheet, they will not be saved (i think during updates and such they are written over). However, if you made additions to the theme look/feel/style etc. on the area labeled Custom CSS, it should be there if saved. Perhaps clear cache and refresh browser?

    I really hate to hear your customizations are gone, I know the feeling. I truly hope you are able to straighten this out.

    (I now make a copy of my css changes and keep them on my desktop as a file to copy and paste, should I be in dire straights again).

    oh, and if you did save them in custom css, i believe they should still be in your WP files. (via ftp) (i think…)

    Hi Jocelyn

    As @oldasdirtuser highlighted if you had made your customization in styles.css located via appearance > editor > style.css they will be lost during theme updates.
