Color Custimization

I may just be special but I am have a problem trying to figure out how to customize the background color (and other pieces) of my pages. I go to Appearance > Customize and that where it ends. I don’t see anything that says “color” like in your customization instructions. The only drop-downs are ‘Site Title & Tagline’ , ‘Widgets’ , and ‘Static Front Page’ , none of which have any color options.

Please help, I’m sure its simple and I just can’t figure it out.
