Can’t link a gif to a url

10 years ago · Last reply by Magus 10 years ago

Is it possible to link an animated gif or does it need to be a jpg image?

I’m using Influence theme and Pagebuilder; when I go into the visual editor, I click on the gif image, and there are two different ways I can link it to an affiliate website. One is by clicking on the chain-link, the other by going into a custom setup. But when I do either and save it, then check my website, the link is not live.

Really stuck on this one!

    Hi Cmoore

Do you have a public URL to a page containing a gif where we can take a look at what’s going on? If you need to keep this URL private from other users, just select “Private Reply” on the bottom right of the comment box.

    Thanks

Thanks for writing, Magus. After three days of doing absolutely nothing to it except checking the website (I didn’t change anything), it self-remedied, so now it works as I expected it would.

But now I have a closely related problem on the same site, so I decided to write about it here instead of in a new thread.

I had originally made some content links that worked fine. So when I decided to change them and put new links into the link box, and I also checked them in the HTML, they’re correct in both places. But when you hover over them on the website, and when you click on them, they’re still the original links. So although the new ones show up in the two places I expect them to be, they’re still the old links.

I have a hunch that either Influence or Pagebuilder is remembering old setups and not allowing changes. It will be interesting to see if my new links show up in a day or two.

    Hi Cmoore

If both of these sites are hosted through the same service it may be a caching issue with your host. It has been seen before if the host uses a caching system then the site is loaded from that instead of live content. It sounds as though this is a possibility if your original issue cleared itself after a couple of days.

I would also suggest trying to view the site in an incognito or private browser window to rule out a local caching issue.
