Can’t get widget text to fix to the header?

By Michael Mccullion, 9 years ago. Last reply by Daniel, 9 years ago.

Hi All,

Sorry if this is straight forward…but i have about 2 days experience when it comes to creating a website!

I am struggling to get the Telephone numbers on my website header to align and stay fixed.

If i view on different browsers the alignment is all over the place.

Please could any of you help me out?

Also please could you let me know what you think of my site…any improvements would be more than welcome!!!

Regards,
Michael

    I really like the front page! Crisp clean easy to read. Appears professional and loads well.
    (just some thoughts from another vantage prem. user)

    From a visual user perspective….
    I like it!
    Only issues I saw,
    Our Services and What We Do pages are showing as the same input.
    About Us and Our Values are also doing the same.
    Not sure if search engines would consider that “bloat”, but it may be an option to consider any redundancies.

    Thanks for the input oldasdirtuser!

    Do you have any input as to the telephone numbers in the header moving/not aligning in different browsers.

    I am on safari and if i keep refreshing the page it moves up and down!

    This is the text currently in there ;

    M :    0161 669 4221
    W :    01925 595 295
    L :     0113 887 8437
    Client Area

    i checked firefox and chrome and they aren’t moving for me… :)
    each browser has just the smallest bit of difference…
    as long as there is no real detriment, the numbers all appear to align and do not seem out of place at all – cross browser use seems really well in vantage , from my experience.

    AHHHH! Ok …. isee, up/down.
    in firefox the numbers begin alignment with the facebook icon….

    in other browser the set of numbers end in alignment with the facebook icon.

    is that what you are regarding???

  8. 9 years, 6 months ago Michael Mccullion

    That’s the one!

    Also in safari sometimes they move below the header so that only part of the numbers are in sight.

    From a user perspective I like the “down” alignment, as the “up” alignment view takes my eye away from the
    visual parallel of the tip of your light bulb logo … to the tip of the phone icon/logo….

    (if that makes sense)

  10. 9 years, 6 months ago oldasdirtuser

    oh woah yeah, if they move like that in safari not good as you have to show contact numbers….!

    Is there any sort of code i can put in to make it align and also fix it to that one position?

    I am a complete newbie!

    does the regular Vantage theme have custom CSS area? or is that just in premium…?
    let me confirm that….

  15. 9 years, 6 months ago Michael Mccullion

    Yes i have got a custom CSS under appearance

  16. 9 years, 6 months ago Michael Mccullion

    I have just tried :

    header#masthead .hgroup #header-sidebar {
    padding-top: 0 !important;
    padding-bottom: 0 !important;
    }

    However this puts the numbers to the very top…i would like them closer to the menu bar

  17. 9 years, 6 months ago Michael Mccullion

    Do i just change the padding to a different number ?

  18. 9 years, 6 months ago oldasdirtuser

    Great!

    heres other possible threads to help, Michael.

    Thread: Horizontal alignment of image widget in the header (right side of header)

    Thread: Header image widget partially hidden when page first loads

    Thread: Header Widget

  19. 9 years, 6 months ago oldasdirtuser

    yes, i think you can play with the padding number till you can get something that looks good across all the browsers. may not all be same, but at least get your phone numbers to show….

    changing the padding seems to be what all these thread users were encouraged to do. i suppose there is no perfect number for as many style possibilities that there are…..

    Think the last one might have cracked it!!!

    Please could you check at your end on the browser you are using to see if it has now worked :)

  21. 9 years, 6 months ago oldasdirtuser

    ok let me look!

  22. 9 years, 6 months ago oldasdirtuser

    Alright! I see phone numbers in full!
    If they are showing in Safari…I would say CONGRATS :)

  23. 9 years, 6 months ago oldasdirtuser
