Best themes I’ve seen – need some help with the slider

Your themes are excellent. the best I’ve seen. The others out theres use a counterintuitive top down approach requiring you to go through layers of simplification in a forest of complexity. Yoiur approach is the opposite simple upwards to the desired level of complexity and no more clutter. Very good and natural. I was almost about to throw the towel in and switch to Joomla.

I’m trying the Clearly theme. I seem to have a problem with the slider. I’m on the theme settings option and there is a field called “home slider images” with a hyperlink to select images. However when I click on this nothing happens. perhaps I am supposed to do this through the page builder or the SiteOrigin widget bundle, both of wich I have installed. The default theme has the default slider already present so I presume there is some place to go to access those images and replace them with my own.

Thanks for the help.

Hugh

    Hi Hugh

Thanks for your positive feedback. At some point it might be worth giving Vantage a try, at the moment it’s our most customisable theme.

The Clearly slider setting under Appearance > Theme Settings should have a Select Images link next to it. If that link isn’t opening a Media window please try temporarily de-activating all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if there is any change.

    Thanks

    Hi Andrew,

Yes I’ve tried Vantage it is very good. Thanks for the design work.

As regards the problem with the select images link in “Clearly” – it looks like there is a bug in the markup, or a browser incompatibility issue. I did several tests from a complete re-install of WordPress, disabling all plugins etc. What I found was that it worked on my smartphone, giving me access to the images, it worked on Microsoft explorer and on Chrome in Windows and Chromium in Ubuntu, but not on Firefox. When it did work it was a bit unpredictable.

Hope this is helpful to you,

    Hugh

Thanks for that. So to confirm, it’s Firefox Ubuntu that is having trouble with that media link?

Yes it was Firefox Ubuntu. I didn’t check Firefox on Windows. I checked Chromium (Ubuntu) and Explorer on Windows. It worked on my android phone. Didn’t check safari.

Thanks for the feedback. I’ll be sure to pass this onto Greg. For now the fix would unfortunately be to use a browser that let this link open the media window correctly.

Hi Guys – Have uploaded the theme and love it! Just a question, as above, I cannot click on the “select images” tab for the slider. When I click on it, nothing happens.

I’ve tried INternet Explorer and Firefox. I’ve also disabled all plug ins… still nothing.

Is there any way I can work this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks

    Jason

It seems to be a bug that they are working on fixing. Read above thread. I switched to Vantage. This is a great theme and worth the switch.

Thanks for your feedback Jason. Can you perhaps give it a spin for me in Chrome and see if there is any change?

    Thanks.
