Cant get slider to work on Portal Theme

Hi, I cant get the slider to work in this Portal theme!- I installed the NectGen slider and that wont work either ! The nextGen slider works fine on my SnapShot theme i have with another website ,so im not sure what the problem is with this Portal theme….. Any suggestions?
