updating css, no changes

new to WP. i am currently running unwind.. i have a child theme created off the main. attempting to update the parent theme colors (mainly cause nothing else is working), BG, links, anything.. nothing changes.. unsure why.. i understand there is a learning curve, but i’d rather not give up my control to stranger to…
