Simplify GDPR and DSGVO Compliance with the Embed Blocker
Embedding third-party content on your website can be a compliance minefield. That’s why we’ve developed a new addon for SiteOrigin Premium to streamline the process and put you back in control.
The Embed Blocker Addon allows you to manage embeds from popular platforms like YouTube, Vimeo, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Google Maps, Reddit, Soundcloud, Spotify, and TikTok. Once enabled, you can choose which networks or sites to block, and embedded content from those sources will be blocked until your visitors provide explicit consent.
Getting started is simple:
- Navigate to SiteOriginPremium Addons and activate the Embed Blocker Addon.
- Adjust your embed blocking preferences under SiteOriginPremium AddonsEmbed Blocker: Settings.
- Use the Sites table to choose which sites/URLs to block and personalize the consent message.
- Visitors will be presented with your custom message instead of the embed until they accept the site’s privacy policy.
The Embed Blocker settings put you in the driver’s seat with a range of customization options:
- Toggle blocking on or off for individual sites.
- Choose to target iFrames, blockquotes or script embeds.
- Design your consent message using a WYSIWYG editor or SiteOrigin’s Layout Builder.
- Personalize the button text, styling, icon, and attributes.
- Customize the message container and typography to blend seamlessly with your theme.
- Dynamic placeholders like
[site]
,[privacy_link]
and[button]
simplify creating consent messages that automatically adapt for each blocked site.
With the Embed Blocker Addon, GDPR and DSGVO compliance for embeds is a breeze. Keep your visitors informed and in control of their data.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Datenschutz Grundverordnung (DSGVO) are regulations designed to protect the privacy and personal data of individuals within the European Union (EU). Compliance with these regulations is crucial for businesses and organizations that handle personal data.
An “Embed Blocker” is a tool or feature that helps website owners control the embedding of external content, such as videos, widgets, or scripts, on their websites. By blocking certain embeds, website owners can manage the flow of third-party content and potentially reduce their exposure to GDPR and DSGVO compliance issues.
