Posts not showing on posts page (Vantage)

Hi. This is a continuation from the wp thread:
This is my second site with Vantage. The first worked fine. This one, though a copy, will not show posts. The page used for posts says post page but nothing shows. Any ideas?

Thanks

Sorry we weren’t able to reply sooner. We’re most active at https://siteorigin.com/thread/, please consider posting a thread there if you need a hand in the future.

I’m not sure what would be causing this problem. A few things you might try:

1. Create a new test page. Go to Settings > Reading and assign that page as your posts page, any change?

2. Temporarily de-activate all non-SiteOrigin plugins. Any change?

3. Switch to a default theme with all plugins de-activated. Any change?

Let us know how you come along.

Did all of the above and no changes. Tried it on the front page and no changes. Tried both summery and full text. Nothing. The single blog post page shows by itself but not the blog page that should show all posts. It seems to me that something got lost in the code to pull the single post and show on the blog page.

    Hi Stkarene

You said this site is a copy, would you mind telling me how the site was copied? Did you just copy the database and files from the original site or did you do a clean install and transfer the content.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Not a copy in that sense. Just copied the layout/design but by hand. Fresh theme dl and fresh input of all data and plugins.

    Hi Stkarene

Just to confirm my thoughts, the blog page behaved the same when switching to a default WordPress Theme?

No. I tried twenty twelve and twenty fourteen. Blog page shows blog posts on both. So it is only Vantage. I like Vantage and the site is set up to Vantage so I prefer to get it back running smooth.

    Hi Stkarene

Would you mind telling me the contents of your child-theme? If you want to post any code please use the code tags as shown below the reply box

    Thanks

    Hi Stkarene

I have run every test and combination possible on the wordpress installation with no luck. Would it be possible for you to FTP to your site and post the contents of your .htaccess file from the website root.

Please use the code tags as shown below the reply box to do this.

    Thanks

    Hi Stkarene

I am afraid we are at a loss. When I logged in I refreshed the theme Install and the WordPress Install to rule out issues with the files. I also tested with all plugins disabled and created a post loop on the test page to check the blog loop was working correctly. There should be nothing wrong with the installation itself which would cause this issue.

We believe this may be hosting related, possibly a file permissions issue. After a search on the internet I have found that Godaddy VS Hosting does have issues with wordpress themes. In fact they try to address this exact problem here.

    https://www.godaddy.com/help/troubleshooting-common-issues-in-wordpress-5675#blank

It may be best to follow the instructions on that page and contact them.

Sorry we cannot be of more help

    Hi Magus,

Thank you so much for trying.

It’s odd because the theme works on another site with godaddy. But such is life and it might be easier to just quickly redo it under a new theme and then try Vantage again next time.

    Best wishes,
    Elia

    Hi Elia

You are welcome. Three of us looked at this and the only thing we could decide on was that it had to be related to hosting. There didn’t seem to be any issues with plugin conflicts, or with the theme files or wordpress files.

If you do get to the bottom of it please let us know for reference.

Sorry for the lack of any further insight.

    regards

    Magus
