More Tag

By Adam Bermingham, 9 years ago. Last reply by Adam Bermingham, 9 years ago.

Hi all, hope you can help.

I have recently started using Page builder & I really like it. But yesterday I found a problem.

I wrote the first blog post using it & I when I add a more tag to have a snippet on the blog page nothing happens.

Can anyone help with this please?

I am a bit of a novice, I’m sure it’s something simple

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Adam

I don’t believe the more tag works on pages in WordPress in general. It’s a core quicktag function that is specifically aimed at post content. We’ve looked at this question several times over the past year or so. Our final conclusion is that this core feature isn’t designed for what some users are requesting on pages with Page Builder.

Here is how the tag is intended to be used: https://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/

I use this plugin to achieve the same effect. You just wrap the hidden portion of the text in the shortcodes given and it gives you an accordion effect.

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-showhide/

More information on this can be found here

Thread: More tag not working – What’s the work around?

If you keep reading down the thread more instructions are given for configuring the shortcodes

Let us know how you get on

I cannot get that to work at all.

I managed to get a read more/less tag but the rest of the content was visible regardless.

I’m a painter, not a web designer, I don’t know code, I use visual editor. I just want to click a button.

Will I have to change my theme, have spent 3 months on this?? Just when I have it right… this.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Adam Bermingham

I am afraid that you would be facing the same issue with any theme you use.

Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look? You can create the account with the following email address:

    [email protected]

Just navigate to Users > Add New in your WordPress admin. Enter siteorigin for the username and [email protected] for the email address. Make sure you’ve selected Administrator for the role and enabled the “Send Password” field so we receive the details.

Once we’re finished taking a look, you can delete this account. We’ll let you know when to do that.

I really appreciate that Magus, thank you so much.

I’ll get on to that later today.

    Kind Regards, Adam.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Adam

I have created a test post for you using a Visual Editor Widget in a PageBuilder Row. Please have a look and see if this is the result you are looking for. If it is you can just use the same opening and closing shortcodes on your own posts.

Right, now I know the problem.

I want to put the first code in at the top & then the second code in the last widget in the last row at the bottom.

Don’t use a test, Go into the Furniture Painting in Kildare post and edit it live, condense the whole post. Leave the first image and the text to the left of it visible and have the rest behind a read more tag.

I’ll be able to see what you’ve done and copy it.

Sorry to be a nuisance, do you need your kitchen painted :-)

    Adam.
