How to add content to layout builder

By fb-143, 9 years ago. Last reply by fb-143, 9 years ago.

I’ve read and reread the getting started guide; nowhere does it describe how to paste content into either Visual Editor or Layout Builder. Any wisdom?
If I start with an existing page and want to convert it to multiple columns, how do I paste the text into the new column?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Fb-143

You would need to add either a Visual Editor Widget or Text Widget to the column. Once done you can edit the widget and paste the text directly by either using a right mouse click and selecting paste, or by using ctrl+v (for pc)/cmd+v (for mac).

If you are needing to split existing text into columns you could either cut it from one widget and paste it into the next or use a plugin that creates columns within the existing text.

Go to Plugins > Add New and search for Columns. Install and activate the plugin. When you search for Columns many will come up, make sure you install Columns by Konstantin Kovshenin.

Then you can wrap your content like this

    [column-group]
        [column]This is my first column[/column]
        [column]This is my second column[/column]
    [/column-group]

    Hope this helps

Thank you, I’ll give it a shot. Appreciate the quick response. I find two columns reads quicker; less work for the eyes. VR
