How do you get the images in Masonry not to shrink?

My featured image gets reduced in size in order to fit the block but it has other dimensions. That gives me plenty of unsigthly blackspace.

The first thing you need to do is make sure that all the images you’re using are larger than the masonry blocks. WordPress wont upscale images, which means that smaller images will be displayed with the wrong aspect ratio.

But more than likely you just need to run regenerate thumbnails to make sure the correct image sizes are available for your images.
