Dimensions the workable area on the site and can we change it?

By Steven Small, 9 years ago. Last reply by Steven Small, 9 years ago.

Hello,

This is a little tough to describe, but I am curious what is the size(in pixels if possible) of the section of the Vantage/Wordpress site that we can put content in. It seems the buildable web area is confined to a certain dimension in the center of the page. I’m not sure what this area is called and if there is a standard size in place by WordPress or within Vantage, but can anyone shed some light? Also is theme standard in wordpress? It seems a lot of themes are confined within the same or similar area.

I am curious because I would like to build a background image that fits the width of the page(1080 screen) in the boxed layout, but need to know the width of the content area. And I am curious if it is possible to edit the size of this area.

Thanks for your time.

Does anyone know? Can the makers of Vantage tell me?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Steven,

First of all I apologize for the delayed response.

You can use a width in % for the background so that it caters for different screen sizes available. It is possible to edit the size of the area in question. What you need to do is to post a direct link to the page in question and I will test a custom solution for you.

Am not sure what you meant by ‘standard in WordPress’ , would you mind elaborating?

If am getting you right, the answer is yes, the Vantage theme is WordPress driven only

    Cheers

    Hello Addo,

    My work in progress: http://www.theoutstandingdesk.com

I re-boxed the layout so you can see what I am talking about better. Is there a way to increase the content area(the white area) within the orange wood border created by the background image? Meaning can I expand my pages further outward to show less of the background image and more of the content within the site.

And I am curious what size this white area is so I can resize the background image correctly if need be. As an example is the content area 1080 pixels? Photoshop is saying it is 1080p width on a 1920 screen. I would like to potentially increase this area more than 1080p for 1920 screens but scale on other resolutions using your proposed percentage adjusment.

Also does this area shrink from the full width layout theme setting? It seems to shrink a bit.

And lastly, if I were to use full width layout, is there a way to change to color of the dead space that surrounds the content areas?

Thanks Addo, I hope my questions are not too much.
