New Header Layouts for Unwind

Unwind is our beautiful blogging and WooCommerce theme, perfect for creators of all types. Version 1.0.8 added three new header layouts. These new header layouts make Unwind even more flexible, each offering a unique look and feel.

If you’re already using Unwind you’ll find the header layouts at AppearanceCustomizeTheme SettingsHeaderHeader Design.

Let’s take a look.

Menu above header

This is the default header layout. The menu is above the header allowing for a big bold site title or logo. Menu links are placed on the left and the social and search icons on the right.

Menu below header

The menu is placed below the header. This still allows a large site title area but offers a more conventional menu location. The top bar is removed with the menu links on the left and the social and search icon on the right, below the header.

Menu centered below header

This layout places the menu below the site title and centers the links. The top bar remains with the social widget links on the left and the search icon on the right.

Menu in line with logo

The last of the new layouts moves the site title or logo to the left of the header and the menu to the right. The top bar remains with the social widget links on the left and the search icon on the right. This compact arrangement reduces the overall height of the header and is perfect for when a smaller site title or logo is required.

This is great, thanks. But I can’t quite make it work properly – everything sits out of line and my page title is aligned to the right – i can send a screenshot to show what I mean.

Hi David, you can post over on our support forum, but from the sounds of things, you just need to clear your browser cache.

    Hi, Andreas here!
I’am a great fan of your framework. Thank you very much for your header variations.
I’ll prefer it in future for all new webdesigns, so i’m testing sice two weeks the posibilities and limits.
With css background I see nearly no limits in designing sites. ;-)

By my testing I’ve find a problem with the “menu in line with logo”.
1st the submenus will display under the big hero image.
    My solution in css is: #masthead .sticky-bar { z-index: 200;}
2nd is the great distance between the menu and the submenu.
My solution for this in css is:
    .main-navigation > div ul ul a {margin: 0 16px; padding: 0;}
Can you show me an other way without css?

Is it possible in theme “unwind” to make a clean “one page site” like “north”?
In my tests with #links on cell and menu-link the site always jump in the middle of the cell or widget and not on top.
And do you have an option for scrolling to top like in theme north without an additional plugin?

    I’m still waiting your answer.

    Best regards
    Andreas

      Hi, I Work Here

      Hi Andreas

      Thanks for reporting.

These issues should be fixed in the most recent update. We’ve also added a scroll to top button. You can enable it from the Navigation section in Theme Settings.

With regards to the one page scroll position issues. Can you perhaps setup a demo page for me and send the link?

Just more of the same, precise, user-friendly work from the Guys at SiteOrigin.
I noticed Unwind a couple of weeks ago and installed but not activated till last night.
I’m building an Online store using Woocommerce and was unhappy with the themes I had tried.
I noticed Unwind in my themes and activated it. I was immediately rewarded. It looked great out of the box.
I was also amazed at the depth of options available in Customizer. In 5 mins i achieved more than the previous two weeks.
Love your work Greg and the team.

Awesome addition to the theme, MANY thanks!

One more option I would like to see is a left and right menu with the logo in between.

    Hello!
I want to purchase the Create Theme, but I have a question.
I can use this for 2 sites? or the license is for only 1 site?
    Thanks a lot!

Sorry that we missed your question. Do you still need help?

The new header layout looks great. Thanks for the hard work.
But one thing bugs me a bit. The menu in the last layout doesn’t seem to be in the same baseline as the title nor the shopping cart icon. It looks higher than the others. And when I compare it to the top and bottom borderline, it doesn’t seem to be in the middle(vertically). Can I add some custom CSS to fix this?

      Hi, I Work Here

Hi Carlos, as far as I’m aware it’s a single site license but it might be best to confirm with ThemeTrust here: https://themetrust.com/contact/.

I am having trouble with my header using the Unwind theme. When I switch to mobile view, the header text is cutoff so that the second word is cutoff and indented below. I would rather have the entire second word. For example:

    It is displaying as
    Simple Pa
    ge

    Rather than
    Simple
    Page

    Thank you,
I have been very happy with the them.

Hi. How can I edit the search form, I want the bar under the icon not as popup extra window.
Or I tried to add new search icon into end of menu but the search bar comes out in the menu to right direction, far from menu and icon is invisible. It happened with other plugin, or widget also. How can i find codes to change? in menu or plugin editor? sorry, i am beginner! Thank you

In the “Menu in line with logo” layout it’s possibile exchange the “search” item with direct contact items (such as mobile phone & e-mail)? Thx to al

My option to change the header image under the appearance tab is no longer there. I changed my header less than 24 hours ago, but now the option is missing. Any advice? I’ve already deactivated all of my plugins, but that yielded no result.

    • 4 years, 2 months ago Andrew Misplon
      Hi, I Work Here

      Hi Ronda

The logo field is found at Customize > Theme Settings > Branding.

      Page: Branding

      Does that help?

  22. 3 years, 8 months ago Rachael Codina

    Hi There.
Is it possible to change the header image for each page in this Unwind theme?

    • 3 years, 8 months ago Andrew Misplon
      Hi, I Work Here

Hi Rachael, thanks for reaching out. At the moment, there isn’t a theme setting available to change the logo per page. It’s possible using custom development (PHP) but, unfortunately, not something that can be done via theme settings at the moment.
